Introducing: The Better Future Collective
Together we can do more. This year we have joined Kapara London to support their initiative: The Better Future Collective, which brings brands together who work in India, in order to support girls' education.
The young girls supported through the project come from impoverished and sometimes broken and abusive homes. Without financial support they would have no chance of a school education.
Each of the brands involved in this project becomes 'Aunty' to & supports the education of 3 girls. This includes covering all expenses associated with their tuition, but also covers transport, food, uniform, stationary and medical support too. The school, Sneh Girls Shikshan Sansthan is based in Luniyawas, an impoverished area in Jaipur and their mission is to provide free quality education in a safe and secure environment for girls who otherwise would not go to school. Girls education is often considered less important in India and in poor families where help is required at home many never get the opportunity to go to school. This Collective wants to help change that.
This is Nikita Bai, one of the girls we are delighted to now be supporting. Nikita means 'unconquered, victory & an unyielding spirit'. She is 13 years old and embodies the meaning of her name. Her father works hard but her mother is unwell. Despite the challenging circumstances she faces her determination shines through. She has exceptional intelligence and dedicates herself wholeheartedly to her studies. Maths is her favourite subject & she thrives on solving complex problems. When asked about her aspirations her eyes shine as she expresses her deep desire to pursue a profession that can make a difference in the world, despite the financial obstacles hindering her path. She has a resilient spirit and an unwavering dedication.
